Philosophy
1. Knowledge is owned collectively by all of humanity, not by the individual scientists who discover it.
2. The generation of knowledge is a fundamental right of every human being. Each person, through their own combination of life experiences, brings unique talents and skills to the table. We need everyone.
3. The work (and privilege) of scientists is to spend each day chipping away at the frontiers of human knowledge. Our job is to learn, and more often than not, we tend not to know the exact way forward. Humility and a commitment to truth are the foundation of our work.
4. Tools are in the service of scientific questions and conceptual frameworks—and it is never too late in your career to learn new techniques.
5. Science is communal work, and is at its best when it is carried out in an open and collaborative spirit. I am always happy to share my experimental protocols, code, datasets, and fellowship proposals. Please feel free to reach out if you think I can be of help to you!
